A step forward towards a more sustainable agricultural future

European agriculture is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Restrictions on the use of active substances in plant protection products, the growing demand for residue-free produce, and the need to protect biodiversity have presented new challenges for producers and distributors. In this context, Altinco has demonstrated its capacity for foresight and leadership with the launch of Altinco Grinward®, its first ecological contact insecticide with European registration.

What is Altinco Grinward® and why is it a game changer?

Altinco Grinward® is a natural, biodegradable ecological contact insecticide, designed and manufactured entirely at Altinco’s facilities in Mollerussa (Lleida). Its key innovation lies in its formulation: it contains only 20% paraffin oil, compared to the usual 40%-80% found in other products on the market. This new product ensures maximum efficacy with the minimum amount of active substance, making it an excellent solution for farmers seeking more sustainable and efficient options.

Residue-free insecticide: an effective and environmentally friendly solution

The development of this insecticide has been a clear commitment to innovation. Altinco has invested over €1.5 million and eight years of research to ensure that Altinco Grinward® meets the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and sustainability.

During the development process of Altinco Grinward®, over 150 field trials were conducted in different regions of Spain and other countries. Below are some of the most representative results from official efficacy trials against three of the most common and persistent pests:

Ecological contact insecticide: triple action for complete protection

Altinco Grinward® acts through a triple mechanism:

  1. Blockage of pest mobility, causing death by anoxia.
  2. Dehydration through attack on the insect’s exoskeleton cuticle.
  3. Physical plant barrier that prevents egg laying and nymph development.

This approach not only ensures high efficacy, but also prevents resistance development and respects beneficial fauna, key aspects for Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Residue-free agriculture: efficiency, convenience and lower environmental impact

One of the major benefits of Altinco Grinward® is its application efficiency. While other insecticides require between 8 and 15 litres per hectare, this product achieves excellent results with just 2 litres per hectare. What does this imply?

  • Less burden for the farmer: lighter weight, more comfort.
  • Fewer plastic containers: reduced use of resources and waste.
  • Lower environmental impact: preservation of soil and plants.

In addition, the cost per hectare is more competitive than that of other similar solutions, positioning Altinco Grinward® as a sustainable and profitable ecological contact insecticide.

Regulatory compliance and European leadership

With this launch, Altinco reinforces its position as a company aligned with the strictest European regulations, which in recent years have banned more than 50% of the active substances used in pesticides.

Thanks to this strategic investment, Altinco stands at the level of the major multinationals in the sector and proves that ecological innovation can also be scalable and competitive.

International marketing of the ecological insecticide Altinco Grinward®

Currently, Altinco Grinward® is already marketed in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Greece, and the company plans to expand its reach in the coming years. This expansion is part of Altinco’s commitment to offering natural and residue-free solutions internationally, in line with its philosophy of collaborative work with distributors and farmers.

The future of agriculture begins with sustainable decisions

Altinco is not just launching a product; it is offering a real opportunity to transform the way crops are protected. Altinco Grinward® is the result of decades of experience, rigorous research and a commitment to a more responsible agricultural model.

A product aligned with sector trends

The growing demand for organic products, the need to adapt to climate change and the CAP reforms are clear indicators that sustainability is not a trend, but a necessity. Altinco responds to this demand with solutions such as Altinco Grinward®, which protect, enhance and respect at the same time.
