New Ecological Phytosanitary Registration
The evolution of environmental policies in Europe has created an increasingly restrictive and demanding framework for the control and use of plant protection products.
As researchers devoted to developing innovative solutions for farmers, we face these growing challenges with determination, navigating the obstacles that hinder progress and the development of many initiatives.
Looking back at the start of this decade, we have witnessed year after year an increasing number of environmental restrictions imposed by the European Union. Notable examples include the ban on chlorpyrifos in 2020 and the prohibition of mancozeb and imidacloprid in 2021. These measures reflect a stringent oversight of active substances, aimed at safeguarding public health and preserving biodiversity.
At Altinco, our research has always focused on developing ecological solutions compatible with auxiliary fauna and free from phytotoxicity risks. While this is an exciting and essential path for the future of agriculture, it is also filled with significant challenges. Only a small fraction of companies working on phytosanitary registrations within the European Union manage to complete the authorization process. According to the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA), developing and registering a new phytosanitary product can take between 7 and 12 years.
The phytosanitary registration of Altinco Grinward® is now a reality.
In this context, and considering regulatory trends, we at Altinco are deeply proud to see that the efforts made in recent years have paid off and that the phytosanitary registration of Altinco Altinco Grinward® is now a reality.
For a manufacturer like Altinco—backed by a team of 40 professionals and three decades of expertise in designing zero-residue products—securing the registration of Altinco Grinward® is a significant recognition. It reinforces our commitment to our Altinco Exact Nature® formula and inspires us to continue pursuing excellence.
Years of research have culminated in the launch of an innovative formulation that delivers a rapid insecticidal effect while ensuring broader coverage of plant surfaces. Altinco Grinward® is approved for organic agriculture and can be applied at low doses with remarkable efficacy. Its multiple benefits include eliminating the honeydew produced by insects on leaves and fruits, reducing the surface tension of mixtures, and enhancing the effectiveness of other products it can be combined with.
The potential of Altinco Grinward® stands out not only for its efficacy at low doses but also for its pioneering composition. It is the first insecticide on the market formulated with just 20% paraffin oil. Its low viscosity and increased oil stability minimize phytotoxicity risks, allowing for application across most crops and throughout different seasons.
With the launch of Altinco Grinward®, we reaffirm our alignment with European environmental trends that demand products more respectful of biodiversity and sustainability.
