Residue-free agriculture in Peru: Agro-Biosolution’s technical visit to Altinco to strengthen collaboration and biocontrol in citrus

Residue-free agriculture is gaining ground in Peru. The technical visit of the Agro-Biosolution team to Altinco, in Spain, was an opportunity to share experiences regarding the use of biocontrol and Altinco Altinco Grinward® in citrus, with the common goal of adapting sustainable solutions to Peru’s agricultural reality.

Why promote residue-free agriculture in Peru?

The future of agriculture in Peru, as in many other regions of the world, faces a dual challenge: maintaining competitiveness in demanding markets and reducing the use of products that leave residues on crops. Residue-free agriculture emerges as an effective way to achieve both objectives and move toward a sustainable agriculture model in Peru—capable of responding to the demands of both consumers and the planet.

For Peruvian agricultural companies, this means adapting to stricter international regulations, preserving soil health, and ensuring food safety. In this context, technologies such as biocontrol and ecological plant protection products are gaining increasing importance.

Agro-Biosolution is a Peruvian company pioneering the introduction and adaptation of innovative solutions for agriculture. It has extensive experience working closely with agronomists and local growers. The company is known for its strong commitment to efficient, sustainable, and locally adapted agriculture, and it leads in testing, adjusting, and developing tailor-made products. This approach—based on technical knowledge and proximity to the field—makes Agro-Biosolution a key strategic partner for Altinco in Peru.

Agro-Biosolution visits Altinco: a forward-looking alliance

The Agro-Biosolution team traveled to Spain to strengthen its collaboration with Altinco. The visit took place in two key locations Cartagena and Cuevas de Almanzora (Almería), both known for their advanced citrus crop management.

During the visit, Agro-Biosolution representatives Arturo Dahma Guerrero, General Manager, and Luis Roa Ancajima, Northern Zone Coordinator, were accompanied by members of the Altinco team:

  • José Manuel Canales, Iberia Sales Director
  • Sergio Ramis, Export Manager
  • Diana García, Altinco Colombia Delegate

The main goal was to gain first-hand knowledge of citrus crop management using biocontrol solutions as part of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs. This agronomic strategy allows for the combination of different control tools (cultural, biological, and chemical) to keep pest populations below economic thresholds while reducing dependency on conventional plant protection products.

In this context, Altinco Altinco Grinward® was analyzed as an effective tool within IPM strategies, highlighting its residue-free contact action, compatibility with beneficial fauna, and integration into more sustainable technical schedules. The experience helped evaluate how this approach can be adapted to the Peruvian context, strengthening a shared commitment to residue-free agriculture that is also technically viable.

Altinco Altinco Grinward® and biocontrol: real solutions for citrus

During visits to commercial farms, the teams observed various real-world applications of Altinco Altinco Grinward®, an ecological contact insecticide formulated with 20% paraffin oil. It acts effectively against pests such as aphids, psylla, and whiteflies, without leaving residues on the fruit.

Agro-Biosolution’s technical team showed special interest in how this solution is integrated into sustainable crop management programs without compromising effectiveness or crop health. This information is key for its future validation and adaptation to Peruvian crops, where pest pressure and climate conditions require specific approaches.

Technical exchange and field knowledge

Beyond the products themselves, the visit offered a valuable opportunity for technical exchange between teams. The discussions focused on real-world experiences, field learnings, dosage adjustments, application calendars, and ways to continue improving the implementation of biocontrol as a sustainable alternative.

For Agro-Biosolution, this kind of meeting is essential to their working methodology: “testing, adjusting, and developing each product according to the reality of Peruvian agriculture,” as they explained. This pursuit of precision and effectiveness aligns naturally with Altinco’s value proposition: the Altinco Exact Nature® formula, based on the exact dose to achieve the expected response, within a residue-free agriculture model that prioritizes effectiveness, sustainability, and environmental respect.

Fruit Attraction 2025: a global view of innovation

The visit coincided with Fruit Attraction 2025, one of the most important international trade fairs in the horticultural sector. There, the teams had the opportunity to exchange views on emerging industry trends, explore new agricultural innovation approaches, and strengthen their connection as strategic partners.

This event served to further consolidate the alliance between Agro-Biosolution and Altinco, based on technical trust, long-term vision, and shared experience.

Residue-free agriculture in Peru: moving forward together is possible

At Altinco, we believe that a sustainable agricultural future can only be built through collaboration. The visit by the Agro-Biosolution team is a clear example of how international technical exchange, based on real cases and field knowledge, makes it possible to adapt innovative solutions to diverse contexts such as Peruvian agriculture.

We continue working with our partners to discover a residue-free agricultural future together. More productive. More sustainable and safer.
